He was one of the Nine Gems in the Court of King VIkramaditya. Others included scholars like Dhanvantari, Vara Ruchi, Amara Singha, Pangu, Vetala Bhatta, Varaha Mihira et al, Khyato Varaha Mihiro Nripater Sabhayam.
