This is regarding the Derivation of the Financial Calendar.
48 India 1 April – 31 March
Q-Why Apr 1 is the start of the Financial Year ?
A-The East India Company was aware of the mathematical exactness of Hindu Calendar, whose New Year fell on Apr 14, VIshu Day.
Vishu Day occurs when the Sun attains 0 degree longitude , or gross RA 0 degrees and the Angle of Solar Declination at 0.
Angle of Declination = Sin J = Sin R Sin w.
Since R = 0 and Sin 0 = 0,
Angle of Declination will be 0
In order to revert to the Gregorian, 13 days have to be added
In order to revert to the Julian, 13 days have to be subtracted
.
So the East India Company, deducted 13 days from the H Calendar and declared Apr 1, as the start of FY, Financial Year !
