What is Astha Lagna Sphuta, the Descending Degree ?

The Descendant,  diametrically opposite to the Ascendant, ( Udaya Lagna ), is called Astha Lagna in Sanskrit. 180 degrees is deducted from the Ascending Degree and so we get the Descending Degree 

Never be complacent !

Deca means 10 and so a Decanate means 10 degrees of arc. The Rising Ten Degrees  at Nativity is called the Ascending Decanate
