Ayurvedic Home Remedies
TONSILLITIS
Main symptoms:-
1. Inflamed tonsils

1. Curcuma longa (Haridra) powder with milk.
2. Terminalia chebula (Haritaki) + Terminalia belerica(Bibhitaki) + Emblica officinals (Amalaki) as decoction for gargling
3. Gargling with decoction of Glycyrrhiza glabra (Yashtimadhu)
4. Alum water Curcuma longa (Haridra) and Salt (Saindhav) for Gargling.
5. Berberis aristata (Daruharidra) with honey for 2 application.
FEVER - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Jwara
Main symptoms:-
1. Raised body temperature above normal (98.6 F)
2. Shivering
3. Headache
4. Nausea
5. Constipation or diarrhea
Remedies :-
1. Take juice of Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi) & Zingiber officinale (Ardrak),
2. Smashed leaves of Nyctanthes arbortristis (Parijatak).

3) Santalum album(Chandan)
4) Zingiber officinale (Shunthi)

DYSENTRY - Ayurvedic Synonym: - Pravahika
Main symptoms:–
1. Mucoid motions
2. Tennismus
3. Spasmodic pain in abdomen.
Remedies:-
1. Take powder of Terminalia chebula (Haritaki) with Luke warm water at bedtime.
2. Decoction of –
1. Zingiber officinale (Shunthi)
2. Cyperus rotundus (Musta)
3. Mesua ferrea (Nagkeshar)
3. Helicteres isora (Avartani) in the paste form used frequently to control the frequency of motion.
4. Ferula narthex (Hingu) fried in ghee used with menthol gives magnificent result.
GRAYING OF HAIR - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Palitya
Main symptoms:–
1. Greying of hairs.
2. White discoloration of hairs.
Remedies:-
1. Application of Lawsonia inermis (Madayantika) with Triphala Churna.
2. Massage with oil processed by Cyperus rotundus (Musta).
3. Fresh juice of Eclipta alba.(Bhringaraj)
OBESITY / OVER WEIGHT - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Sthaulya
Main symptoms:–
1. Over weight.
2. Over sweating.
3. Exertional dyspnoea.
4. Excessive Hunger and Thirst
Remedies:-
1. Honey with Citrus acida (Nimbuka)& hot water.
2. Terminalia chebula (Haritaki) + Terminalia bellirica (Bibhitaki) + Embilica officinals (Amalaki) } commonly called as Triphala at bed time with hot water.
3. Hot water
4. Gomutra for oral intake or preferably for the purpose of enemas.
5. Triphala churna+ Cyperus rotundus (Musta) powder for both external and oral use. (Udavartan).
BURNING SENSATION - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Daha
Main symptoms:–

COUGH - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Kasa
Main symptoms:–
1. Coughing with or with expectoration.
Remedies:-
1. Fresh juice of Adhatoda vasika (Vasa) with honey.
2. Decoction of Glycyrrhiza glabra (Yashtimadhu)
3. Decoction of Syzygium aromaticum (Lavang)with honey.
4. Coriandrum sativum (Dhanyak)and sugar
5. One-teaspoon powder of Foeniculum vulgare (Mishreya) with sugar is equally effective.
Ayurvedic Medicines:-
1. Sitopaladi churna.
2. Lavangadi vati
3. Kantakaryavleham.
4. Pippalyasava.
BRONCHIAL ASTHAMA - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Shwasa
Main symptoms:–
1. Breathlessness
2. Cough
3. Increased respiratory rate.
Remedies:-
1. Piper longum (Pippali) powder with honey.
2. Fresh juice of Adhatoda vasika (Vasa) with honey.
3. Tea of Glycyrrhiza glabra (Yashtimadhu) mixed with one teaspoon of Badam oil –Intermittently to relive broncho-spasm.
4. Salt mixed Til oil / Mahanarayan oil used for massage especially on the chest, followed by hot water fomentation is commonly practiced remedy to facilitate airway.
URTICARIA - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Shitapitta
Main symptoms:–
1. Rash all over the body
2. Itching
3. Reddish patches.
Remedies:-
1. Piper nigrum (Marich) with cow’s ghee.
2. Curcuma longa (Haridra) powder with milk or hot water.
3. Application of bark of (Kapitha).
CONSTIPATION - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Malavashtambha
Main symptoms:–
1. Irregular bowel evacuation
2. Passage of hard stool in less quantity.
3. Flatulence.
Remedies:-
1. 10-15 pieces of Vitis vinifera (Black Grapes) kept over night in a glass of water and used at morning can relive constipation permanently.
2. Decoction of Zingiber officinale (Ardrak) added with 2 or three teaspoon of castor oil, taken at bedtime can be useful for chronic constipation.
3. Powdered Terminalia, chebula (Haritaki) processed in cow’s ghee in the dose of 1 teaspoon followed by lukewarm water is also proved as equal effective.
VOMITTING - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Chhardi
Main symptoms:–
1. Nausea
2. Ejection of stomach contents.
Remedies:-
1. Glycyrrhiza glabra (Yashtimadhu)
+ Pterocarpus santalinus (Raktachandan)
paste prepared in milk.
2. Santalum album (Chandan)
+ Emblica officinals (Amalki) with honey
3. Fresh juice of Punica granatam(Dadim)
4. Decoction of Coriandrum sativum (Dhanyak) with honey mixed.
5. Fresh juice of Zingiber officinale (Ardrak)+ Allium cepa (Palandu).
INDIGESTION - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Ajirna
Main symptoms:–
1. Loss of appetite
2. Nausea with /without vomiting.
Remedies:-
1. Citrus acida (Nimbuk) +Zingiber officinale (Adrak) +
Salt (Saindhav) +
Allium sativum (Rason)
Mixture - before meals.
2. Tea of Syzygium aromaticum (Lavang) is effective when there is nausea and loss of appetite.
3. Ferula narthex (Hingu) with cow’s ghee.
4. Carum roxburghianum (Ajmoda) and salt (Saindhav) with hot water.
5. Drinking of Hot water intermittently.
6. Cuminum cyminum (Jirak) with Buttermilk.
HAIR LOSS - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Khalitya
Main symptoms:–
1. Progressive hair fall with or without dandruff.
Remedies:-
1. Gentle massage with
1. coconut oil.
2. Sesamum oil processed with Emblica officinals (Amalaki) and Bacopa monnieri (Brahmi).
2. Emblica officinals (Amalki) Cyperus rotundus (Musta) Sapindus trifoliatus (Arishtak) } Rinsing hairs with decoction of these herbs.
3. Triphala churna + Black Sesamum + Eclipta alba (Bhringaraj) } powder with hot water of internal use.
4. Massage with pulp of Aloe vera (Kumari) and Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (Japa-kusum).
JOINT PAIN Ayurvedic Synonym:- Sandhigata Vata
Main symptoms:–
1. Painful joints with or without inflammation
2. Restricted movements of joints.
3. Increased local temperature in inflamed joints.
Remedies (Inflamed joints):-
1. Dry fomentation.
2. Apply poultice of smashed leaves of Allium sativum (Rason), Ricinus communis (Erand), Vitex negundo (Nirgundi) Mixed with salt.
3. Zingiber officinale (Ardrak), Curcuma longa (Haridra) in paste form for Local Application.
Remedies Non Inflamed joints:-
1. Gental massage with Sesamum oil followed by hot water fomentation.
2. Smashed Allium sativam (Rason) boiled in milk.
EPISTAXIS - Ayurvedic Synonym: - Urdhva Raktapitta
Main symptom:-
1. Nasal bleeding
Remedies:-
1. Fresh juice of Adhatoda vasica(Vasa) mixed with sugar (Mishri).
2. Fresh juice of Cynodon dactylon(Durva)
3. Fresh juice of
1. Phoenix syvelstris(Kharjura)
2. Punica granatam (Dadim)
3. Rhus parviflora(Tintidik)
4. Vitis vinifera(Draksha)
4. Nasal installation of fresh juice of Cynodon dactylon (Durva).
COMMON COLD - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Pratishyaya
Main symptoms:-
1. Sneezing
2. Running nose / chock up of nose
3. Headache.
Remedies:-
1. Piper nigrum (Marich) + Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi) } Juice 10ml each is beneficial.
2. Inhalation of steam of Cinamomum camphora (Karpur) + Extract of Carum roxburghianum (Ajamoda Satva ) + Menthol.
3. Piper longum (Pippali) + Zingiber officinale (Shunthi) } 1-teaspoon of each powder boiled in 1 cup of milk for twice a day
JAUNDICE - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Kamala
Main symptoms:-
1. Yellowish tinge to Sclera, Nails & urine.
2. Nausea associated with / without vomiting
3. Loss of appetite
Remedies: -
1. Piper longum (Pippali) + Piper nigrum (Marich) + Zingiber officinale (Ardrak) } + Salt (Saindhav) & Lemon Juice
2. Fresh Juice of Ricinus communis (Erand).
3. Cyperus rotundus (Musta) + Zingiber officinale (Adrak) } Decoction twice or thrice a day.
4. Fresh Juice of Punica granatam (Dadim).
5. Pulp of Aloe vera (Kumari) leaves mixed with honey.
STOMATITIS - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Mukhapak Main symptoms:- 1. Inflammation of mucus line of the mouth. 2. Sourness of mouth. 3. Difficulty while speaking and mastication. Remedies:- 1. Chewing of leaves of Jasminum officinale (Jati) is very effective. 2. Gargling with Glycerrhiza glabra (Yashtimadhu) decoction is also a very effective remedy. 3. Gargling with Decoction of Berberis aristata (Daruharidra) & Alum powder. 4. Gargling with Decoction of Acacia catechu (Khadir). HYPERACIDITY Ayurvedic Synonym:- Amlapitta Main symptoms:- 1. Burning sensation in chest. 2. Nausea 3. Vomiting with /without headache. Remedies:- 1. One teaspoon powder of Emblica officinals (Amalaki) with honey. 2. Glycyrrhiza glabra (Yashtimadhu) + Tinospora cordifolia (Guduchi) + Acacia catechu (Khadira) + Berberis aristata (Daruharidra) Decoction with honey 3. Juice of Punica granatam (Dadim). 4. Powder of Piper longum (Pippali) with honey is very effective remedy. DIARRHOEA - Ayurvedic Synonym:- Atisar Main symptoms:- 1. Loose watery motions. 2. Frequent bowel evacuation. Remedies:- 1. One-teaspoon powder of Zingiber officinale (Shunthi) & sugar with Luke warm water. 2. Decoction of 1) Zingiber officinale(Shunthi) 2) Cyperus Rotundus(Musta) are used 3. One teaspoon full of Myristica fragrans (Jatiphal) can also be taken twice a day. 4. Take fruit pulp of Aegle marmelos (Bilva) thrice a day with hot water. 5. Take decoction of Zingiber officinale (Shunthi) & Foeniculum vulgare (Mishreya) thrice a day for mucoid loose motions.
