O Destroyer of Cupid
I serve Thee always
Whose matted hair
Is beautified by Ganges
Gauri adorns Thy left
Portion of body !
And is close to the Preserver !
I invoke Thee

Hail, O Lord of Varanasi
Embodiment of attributes many
Which are incomprehensible
Whose foot pedestal
Is worshipped by the Trinity
Whose consort is Parvathi
Who is His Left Side

Bhootaadhipam Bhujaga Bhooshana Bhooshitaangam Vyaaghra Jinaam Baradharam Jatilam Trinetram Paashaan Kushaabhaya Varaprada Shoolapaanim Vaaraanasee Purapatim Bhaja Vishvanaatham.


O Lord of all Beings
Whose Limbs are adorned
By jewels and serpents
Clothed with tiger skin
Three eyed, with matted hair
Assuring Protection
With hands upraised !
I invoke Thee
O Lord of Varanasi !

Seetaam Sushobhita Kireeta Viraaja Maanam Phaalekshanaa Nala Vishoshita Panchabaanam Naagaadhipaa Rachita Bhaasura Karna Pooram
Vaaraanasee Purapatim Bhaja Vishvanaatham.

O Thou who shineth
Like the Crown radiant
With the Moon
Thy Third Eye flashed
And Cupid was burnt
To ashes !
Thou destroyest Lust
I invoke Thee
O Lord of Varanasi !


Panchaananam Durita Matta Matanga Jaanaam Naagaantakam Danuja Pungava Pannagaanaam Daavaanalam Marana Shoka Jaraata Veenaam

Liike the lion which destroyeth
A herd of elephants
Thou destroyest all sins !
As Eagle to serpents
All evils are destroyed by Thee !
O Liberator, O All Compassionate
O Destroyer of Death ineluctable

Attributeless, Blissful
Adorned with many qualities
Being Self, Thou transcend all

By giving up all desires !
Criticising others
Indulging in sinful acts
I will study my mind
Meditating upon Thee
In the Sky of Consciousness
Situated in the Heart !

Who transcend the Deadly Sins Seven
O Protector of devotees
Abode of detachment and Peace
Shining forth with courage
Who, despite poison on throat
Is at peace with Himself

Vaaraanasee Purapateh Stavanam Shivasya Vyaakhyaatam Ashtakamidam Pathate Manushya Vidyaam Shriyam Vipula Soukhyam-ananta Keertim Sampraapya Dehavilaye Labhate Cha Moksham. 

The chanter of this Octet
These glorious verses eight
Attains education and wealth
Infinite joy and fame
In this life
And in the next !
