Vaishakha Punya Masa
Vaishakha is the second Lunar Month in the Hindu Lunar Calendar, whose computation began from the Equinoctial New Moon, Amavaysa, which fell on March 18. So Chaitradi, the First Lunar Month, started on 18 Mar.
On 16 Apr 2018, we have the second lunar month of Vaishakha, which is considered a Holy Month for the Eternians. Like the Vrischika Punya Masa, the month of Sidereal Scorpio, Vaishakha is full of esoteric significance. Vaishakha is the Lunar Month, when the Solar Ingress into Taurus takes place, Vaishakhe Vrisha Sankranti. Guruvayur, the fourth largest pilgrim center in the world, becomes full of pilgrims.
The Baisakhi Festival, the beginning of the Punjabi Calendar bears close resemblance to Vaisakha. Also the Vaikaasi, the second lunar month in the Tamil Calendar. It is called Pohela Boisakh in Bengal and Bohag Bihu in Assam.
Some Sacred Days fall within Vaishakha.
