Soorya Ashtakam, the Eightfold Verse of the Inner Sun

                                                                              

   

 

Soorya Ashtakam is an octet of verses praising the Inner Sun, the Divine Solar Consciousness in us. 

Sun does not mean the extoeric Sun, but the inner Divine Principle, the Almighty Self.

The Creator of Light
Please favor me, Lord
O Lord of Universe entire !
 
 
Adhi deva Namasthubhyam Praseeda mama Bhaskara l
Divakara namasthubhyam Prabha kara Namosthu they 
 
Residing on the Chariot
Of horses seven,
VIBGYOR,
Seven colors of spectrum
Son of  mythologic Kashyapa
Wearer of lotus fair
I bow before the inner Sun !


Saptha aswa radha roodam Prachandam, Kasypathmajam 
Swetha padma dharma devam Tham Suryam pranamamyaham 
 
Riding on the chariot
Heavenly, of seven colors
Reddish brown in hue
Grand father of all worlds triune
Destroyer of all sins
I bow before the inner Sun !


Lohitham Radhamaroodam Sarvaloka pithamaham 
Maha papa haram devam Tham Suryam pranamamyaham 
 
Made of attributes six
Satwa, Rajas and Tamas
The Great Conqueror
Of the nature of Trinity
Destroyer of sins galore
I bow before the inner Sun !

 

Trigunyam cha maha sooram,Brahma Vishnu Maheswaram 
Maha papaharam devam,Tham Suryam pranamamyaham 
 
He who developed
By the sparking of the triune
Elements, air, ether, fire
Having lordship of all worlds
I bow before the inner Sun !

Bramhitham teja punjam cha Vayu makasa meva cha 
Prubhustwam sarva lokaanam Tham Suryam pranamamyaham 
 
Who is as red
As hibiscus flower
Wearer of ornaments
And earrings
Wearer of Zodiac
Before the inner Sun, I bow !


Bandhooka pushpa sankaasam Hara kundala bhooshitham 
Eka chakra dharma devam Tham Suryam pranamamyaham 
 
Lord of all worlds,
He makes the universe move
Origin of all lustres
Resplendent as Self
All sins are destroyed by Thee
Before that  inner Sun, I Bow !


Viswesam Viswa karthaaram Maha Theja pradheepanam 
Maha papa haram devam Tham Suryam pranamamyaham 

The Sustainer of all
Lord of the Cosmos entire
Generator of both knowledge
Scientific and philosophic
Imparter of Liberating Doctrine
Destroyer of all sins
Before that  inner Sun, I Bow !

 Sri Vishnum jagathaam nadam,Jnana Vijnana mokshadham 
Maha papa haram devam Tham Suryam pranamamyaham
