I salute the Universal Lord
Who is asleep in Yoga Nidra
The Sleep of Superconscience
On the bed of mighty Sesha
Below the tall dome
Resembling a lotus bud
Surrounded by seven ramparts.
Betwixt two Kaveri rivers
With His right hand near Crown
And lotus like left hand
Pointing towards His feet !
Saptha prakara madhye sarasijamuklothbhasamane vimane,
Kaveri Madhya dese phanipathi sayane, sesha paryanga bhage,
Nidhramudhrabhiramam katinikatasira parswavinyastha hastham,
Padmadhathree karabhyam parichithacharanam rangarajam Bhajeham.
Aanandarupe nijabodha rupe,
Brahma swaroope sruthi moorthi rupe,
Sasanka rupe ramaneeya rupe,
Sri ranga rupe ramatham mano mey.,
May my mind revel in the Lord
Bliss is Thy Form
Whose form is Knowledge
As described in Vedas
Beauteous as Moon !
Kaveri theree karuna
vilole,
Mandhara moole drutha charu khele,
Daithyanha kale akhila loka leele,
Sri Ranga leele ramatham mano mey.
May my mind revel in the Lord
Who sits near river Kaveri
Who dispsenses Mercy
Below the Mandhara tree
Playing speedily and prettily
Who destroys demons
By His Blissful Play !
Lakshmi nivase jagatham
nivase,
Hrud padma vase ravi bimbha vase,
Krupa nivase Guna brunda vase,
Sri Ranga vase ramatham mano mey.,
May my mind revel in the Lord
Who tenants the holy Ranga
In whom Prosperity lives
The Abode of the Universe
Living in the Heart Lotus
Living in the face of the Sun !
The Abode of Compassion
And who relishes good conduct !
Brahmadi vandye Jagadeka
vandhye,
Mukunda vandhye, sura natha vandhye,
Vyasadhi vandhye, Sanakadhi vandhye,
Sri ranga vandhye ramatham mano mey.
May my mind revel in Him
Seated as He is in Ranga
Venerated by Brahma et al
Admired by Universe entire
Venerated as Mukunda
Extolled by lord of celestials
Worshipped by Vyasa et al
And Sanaka and Suka !
Brahmadhi raje, garudadhi raje,
Vaikunta raje sura raja raje,
Trilokya raje , akhila loka raje,
Sri Ranga raje ramatham mano mey.
May my mind revel in Him
Who is regal lord of Ranga
King of celestials like Brahma
Lord of holy bird, Garuda
Lord of Heaven, Vaikunta
King of king of celestials
Lord of worlds triune
And king of universe entire !
Amogha mudhre Paripoorna nidhre,
Sri Yoga nidhre , sasamudhra nidhre,
Srithaika bhadre, jagathaika nidhre,
Sri ranga bhadre ramatham mano mey.
O Protector or Ranga
May my mind revel in Thee
Who is perfect asleep
In the Sleep of Superconscience
Whose sign is never failing
Sleeping on the Ocean
The Sky of Chit Akasha
Who takes perfect care
Of the Goddess of Prosperity
In whom all world moves !
Sa chithra sayi,
bhujagendra sayi,
Nandanga sayi , kamalanka sayi,
Ksheerabdhi sayi , vata pathra sayi,
Sri Ranga sayi , ramatham mano mey.
May my mind find Bliss
In Him who sleeps on serpents
Who sleeps in the city of Ranga
Pretty as a picture
Who sleep on Lakshmi's lap
Who sleeps on Milky Ocean
Who sleeps on the banyan sleep !
Idham hi rangam
thyajathamihangam,
Punarnachangam yadhi changamethi,
Panou rathangam charanembhu gangam,
Yane vihangam sayane bhujangam.
He who shed his bed
In the ground called Ranga
Is never subject to recurrence
He has Chakra in hand
His feet is wetted by Ganges
His bed is serpent
And Garuda is His vehicle !
Ranganathashtakam punyam
prathruthaya ya padeth,
Sarvaan kamanavapnothirangi sayujyamapnuyath.,
He who reads this Octet
On the Lord of Ranga
During morn hours
Gets his wishes fulfilled
And attain Self Actualisation !
