Na Ma Si Va Ya - Bharata Natyam Dance
Lord Shiva represents the Destructive Aspect of the Trinitarian Unity and is
worshipped by the sacred Mantra - Na Ma Shi Va Ya. So the poet thought
it expedient to write five stanzas beginining with these Five Letters !
Nagendra haraya Trilochanaya,
Basmanga ragaya maheswaraya,
Nithyaya shudhaya digambaraya,
Tasmai nakaraya namashivaya.
I bow down to Him who symbolises Na
Triune eyed, eternal, clean
The Purest, wearer of directions
Who wears snakes as His garland !
Mandakini salila chandana charchithaya,
Nandeeswara pramadha nadha maheswaraya,
Mandra pushpa bahu pushpa supoojithaya,
Tasmai makaraya namashivaya.
I bow down to Him who symbolises Ma
Who is worshipped by Mandhara flowers
Who is bathed by Ganges sacred
And who has Nandi as his chieftain..
Shivaaya gowri vadanara vinda,
Sooryaya daksha dwara naasakaya,
Sri neela kantaya vrisha dwajaya,
Tasmai sikaraya namashivaya.
I bow down to Him who symbolises Si
Sun He is to the Mother's Lotus Face
Blue necked, peace personified
And Who destroyed Daksha.
Vasishta kumbhodhbhava gowthamadhi.
Munendra devarchitha shekaraya,
Chandrarka vaiswanara lochanaya,
Tasmai vakaraya namashivaya.
I bow down to Him who symbolises Va
Revered He is by Sages divine
Also by the celestials
With Sun, Moon and Fire as eyes triune !
Yaksha swaroopaya jada dharaya,
Pinaka hasthathaya sanathanaya,
Divyaya devaaya digambaraya,
Tasmai yakaraya namashivaya.
I bow down to Him who symbolises Ya
The Directions are His Dress !
Eternal, He is Peace personified
Who is divine and has tuffed hari
He who recites this manifold
To Him belongs Heaven !
Phalasruthi Panchaksharamidham punyam,
Ya padeth Shiva sannidhou,
Shivaloka maapnothi,
Shive na saha modathe.
