The Eightfold Verse about the Divine Child - Bala Mukunda Ashtakam

Kararavindena padaravindham,
Mukharavinde vinivesayantham,
Vatasya pathrasya pute sayanam,
Balam mukundam manasa smarami. 1

Mentally I think of the Divine Child,
Sleeping on a banyan tree  peacefully,
Who with his hand catches His Lotus Feet
Bringing it near His Feet & steals hearts !

Samhruthya lokaan vatapathramadhye,
Sayanamadhyantha viheena roopam,
Sarveshwaram sarva hithavatharam,
Balam mukundam manasa smarami. 2

The Child Divine mesmerises me,
Who after the Great Deluge,
Sleeps on the middle of leaf of banyan
Without Beginning, Middle or End He is,
Who is the incarnation of Virtue,
And who is the Primal Deity of all !

Indeevara shyamala komalangam,
Indrathi devarchitha pada padmam,
Santhana kalpa druma masrithanaam,
Balam mukundam manasa smarami. 3

I think about the Child Divine,
Who is of dark hue,
Resembling a blue lotus,
Whose feet is worshipped,
By celestials and their King ( Indra )
Who is the bestower of progeny,
And also the wish giving tree,

To His devotees sincere !

Lambhalakam lambhitha harayashtim,
Srungara leelangitha dantha panktheem,
Bimbadaram charu vilasa nethram,
Balam mukundam manasa smarami. 4

The Divine Child still fascinates me,
Whose reddish lips resemble the Bimba fruit,
Wearer of lovely long chains hanging,
Whose locks of hair fall over his face,
Whose nectar teeth shine with Love,
And whose eyes captivate all !

Sikhye nithayadhya payothatheeni,
Bahirgadayam vraja naykayam,
Bukthwa yadeshtam kapatena suptham,
Balam mukundam manasa smarami. 5

The Child Divine I think always,
Who is happy with butter sufficient,
When Mother Yasoda has gone out,
With plenty of milk and curd in house !

Kalindajantha sthitha Kaiyasya,
Phanagrange natana priyantham,
Thath pucha hastham saradindu vakthram,
Balam mukundam manasa smarami. 6

Mentally I conceptualise the Divine Child,
Whose face resembles the autumn Moon,
Who desired to dance on the Seven Hoods,
Of the vicious serpent, Kaaliya.

Ulookhale badha mudhara souryam,
Uthunga padmarjuna bhanga leelam,
Uthphulla padmayatha charu nethram,
Balam mukundam manasa smarami. 7

Divine Child attracts me heavily,
Tied to mortar, charitable and heroic,
Who playfully broke twin Arjuna trees,
With eyes resembling red  lotus.

Alokhya maadur mukha madarena,
Sthanyam pibhantham sasareehuaksham,
Sachinmayam, devamanantharoopam,
Balam mukundam manasa smarami. 8

I think of the Child Divine always
Who is Illimitable, unalloyed Truth,
Whose eyes resemble lotus,
Who is the all pervading Brahman,
Who affectionately looks at His mother's face
When He drinks her milk.
